Inviting Applications for Lab Instructor in the Department of Civil Engineering at NIST University, Berhampur, Odisha

We are seeking a dynamic and proactive individual for the position of Lab Instructor in the Department of Civil Engineering. The role involves supporting laboratory practicals for B.Tech and M.Tech programs, assisting in research and consultancy activities, and ensuring the smooth functioning of civil engineering laboratories. The selected candidate will be responsible for preparing and maintaining laboratory setups, handling laboratory equipment, managing inventory and records, and ensuring adherence to laboratory safety standards.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist faculty members in conducting laboratory practicals for B.Tech and M.Tech students.
  Prepare, set up, and maintain laboratory equipment and experimental setups related to Soil Mechanics, Geotechnical Engineering, Concrete Technology, Transportation Engineering, Fluid Mechanics, Environmental Engineering, Surveying, and Structural Engineering laboratories.
  Ensure proper handling, calibration, storage, and maintenance of laboratory instruments and equipment.
  Maintain laboratory records, stock registers, consumables inventory, and equipment logs.
  Support research, consultancy, and project activities undertaken by the department.
  Ensure cleanliness, organization, and safety compliance of laboratories at all times.
  Assist in procurement, installation, and periodic inspection of laboratory equipment.
  Conduct routine checks and basic troubleshooting of laboratory instruments.

Essential Qualifications:

• B.Tech/B.E. in Civil Engineering from a recognized University/Institute.
  Sound practical knowledge of Civil Engineering laboratory equipment and testing procedures.
  Familiarity with relevant BIS, IRC, and ASTM standards used in laboratory testing.
  Experience in preparation, operation, and maintenance of laboratory setups.
  Ability to assist in academic practical sessions, student projects, and research-related activities.

Desirable Qualifications:

• Experience in educational institutions, research laboratories, or construction/material testing laboratories.
  Knowledge of modern testing equipment and software used in Civil Engineering laboratories.
  Good communication, documentation, and organizational skills.
