Job Description

The NIST University, Institute Park, Berhampur, Odisha, India (www.nist.edu) is inviting applications for the post of Vice Chancellor (VC). 

Responsibilities: The candidate shall be the principal academic and executive officer of the University and must be a visionary with proven leadership qualities, administrative capabilities as well as teaching and research credentials. Candidate shall lead the research activities across multiple schools and must have proven background for collaborative research with universities in India and abroad, strong industry-academia partnership/collaboration and development of entrepreneurial activities at the University.  Candidate must have worked and should be very familiar with all statutory bodies, rules/regulation/guidelines of a University, AICTE, UGC, and State Govt. and expected to lead activities related to accreditation and ranking etc. Candidate must have excellent communication, presentation and leadership skill to lead the University as a vibrant center for academic and research excellence. 

Essential Qualifications: The qualifications for the appointment of Vice Chancellor at NIST University is in accordance with the UGC regulations.

The ideal candidate must have a PhD degree from a recognized university/institute, preferably in the area of engineering, physical science, management with a proven track record of high-quality research, publications, funded research grants, research guidance, and industry/academic collaboration. Minimum 10 years’ experience as a full professor in a university of repute, IIT, NIT or comparable research institute in India or abroad, or an equivalent experience gained in an R&D lab or industry. Candidates from outside the academia must have proven record of a research career with long and effective interaction with academic institutions.

General Condition and Guidelines: The term of appointment Vice Chancellor initially shall be for three years. After completion of 3 years, if the BOG is satisfied it can grant extension.

  1. NIST University reserve right to raise the minimum eligibility qualification etc. in order to restrict the number of candidates to be called for interview.
  2. The recruitment to the post of Vice chancellor, shall be on the basis of merit through selections bythe duly constituted Selection/Search Committee as per the regulations.
  3. Applicant preferably be 50 to 60 years of age as on date of submittal of application. University reserve right to flexibility on age consideration for candidate with exceptional academics and research record.
  4. All correspondence from the College including interview letter, if any, shall be sent only to the e-mail address provided by the applicant in the offline application form.
  5. The University shall verify the documents submitted by the applicant at the time of appointment or anytime during the tenure of the service. In case it is found that the documents/ information submitted by the candidate are false or the candidate has suppressed relevant information, the services of the candidate shall be terminated without prejudice to any other action initiated by the Institute

In case of any dispute/ambiguity that may occur in the process of screening/selection, the decision of the University shall be final.
